The Cosby Titan Band Program
The Legend Began in 2006
The band is a cross-section of the student body consisting of students who take a variety of different academic programs, students who are club and class officers, and students who represent Cosby on the various athletic teams. The main emphasis in this band program is on musical skills and these will be showcased in both the marching and concert activities that the band performs in. All students playing musical instruments are welcomed into this program. Each student is directly responsible for and controls his/her success by the effort they put forth in the band program. Participation in all aspects of the program from each member (marching and concert) is desired and expected, and several of the offered band classes have the Titan Marching Band membership as a prerequisite for admission into those classes.
Non-instrumentalist students are welcomed into the program as members of the color guard (flag corps). This is a great way for those students who don’t play a band instrument to be involved in this vibrant and growing band program!! This group hosts tryouts in May of each school year.
Student leadership is an important part of the Titan band. Band members are able to get more involved in their band by taking an officership in the Cosby band council or strive for auditioned or selected positions such as drum major, drum captain, flag captain, or one of the various section leaders.
The Cosby Titan Band is a great activity for every student to participate in. It is a place where teamwork and self-discipline is learned and emphasized and where the life skills learned will enhance the student’s high school experience. Membership will greatly assist the member for success after high school.
